Beto did awesome! He came very close to beating Cruz and that alone is a big win! Texas was so ridiculously red that it was expected for Cruz to win by landslide. Turns out, that the people of Texas are finally opening up their eyes. It might take a few more elections, but, progressives are definitely taking over Texas!

There wasnt a blue wave, there was a populist wave. The establishment Democrats were destroyed today and while some populist left candidates lost they did better than anyone thought they would months ago. If the party makes Nancy Pelosi the speaker and sits around being milked by Goldman Sachs then we didnt win anything, now we make it our party.

Why would Texans want to vote for someone who would turn Texas into another California. California went from being the golden state full of wealth under Republicans to being an over regulated, bad for business, high crime, shit hole under Democrats.

If you see this as failure than that is your mistake, I see it as Progress that a Man pushed so hard in a state so bound by Republican Strangle that they assume they will just win cause its Texas. You know why Beto was a real threat to win, because Cruz cozies up to Trump like a lap dog and Trump visited and suddenly backed Cruz after everything they have said about each other on Record. You don't get that kind of coming together unless a Larger threat is on the Horizon someone Like Beto Proved that despite it being such a "Deep" Red state it showed just how much Blue is below the Surface, Don't be surprised if Beto makes even more strides and uses this to launch a O'Rourke-Sanders 2020!

Voter suppression is a huge deal. The capitalists who exploit immigrants (of which there are MANY in Texas) want to treat them like slaves and then keep them from voting so white conservatives get more votes.

Beto is a rising star! He scared poor Cruz to tears and made him call Trump to rescue him. Extremely humiliating for Cruz but he is spineless and accepts Trump stepping all over him. Cruz is as far from an image of a Texan as anyone can be. We will see more of Beto in the near future.

For a deep red state like Texas, plenty of people would cast a vote for Cruz knowing he's a slimy, lying, self-serving POS, for no reason other than the fact that he's Republican. The fact that Beto got this close is a testament how unpopular Cruz is. Beto ran the most credible challenge to a Republican Senator in a very long time.

I genuinely hope that Texans won't have cause to regret this when their health insurance goes through the roof and their pre-existing conditions aren't covered any more. Beto did a lot better than expected and has lost gracefully, which shows the type of man he is. I hope Cruz takes into account that 48% of Texans (many of whom are probably Republicans at heart), didn't want him. I doubt very much whether he'll go for the Presidency now.

I won't lie being a Texan I'm a little disappointed in this race. However the fact that it was this close gives me an inkling of hope for future races. Youth voting seems to be on the rise and more people turn voting age every month. That being said I wonder if the numbers would have been that much different if not for faulty voter machines.

Beto did everything he could and I think he energized more new voters but it just wasn't enough. Beto didn't lose on the issues, his loss was strictly a partisan loss. My humble opinion is it's not so much Beto as it is Texas. Texas remains one of the lowest voter-turnout states in the country. Beto ran an excellent campaign. Unfortunately, the voters that did turn out stuck to their guns and religion in Texas and made the wrong choice. Ted Cruz couldn't give two fucks about Texas. Still, until voter turnout improves in Texas, it will remain difficult for Democrats and progressives to win. #ThankYouBeto

*ROME WAS NOT BUILT IN ONE DAY...* Unfortunately for Beto O'Rourke, his transformational campaign for U.S. Senate could not overcome the fact that, even his message reached all the right eligible voters in that state, and even if they all voted for Beto, there are still so many wrong voters living in Texas, who are still uninformed, unmotivated, and uneducated enough for the BETOist movement to overcome. In other words, TEXAS might have been too big of a swamp to clean in time for this election cycle. But who knows, with focused diligence and continued efforts to inform and educate, this big enchilada will eventually roll over to become BIG BLUE yet.

I must say from the outside, the US seems to be broken to a point of no return. I'm not sure exactly how power is balanced between the House and the Senate but it seems to me Trump can pretty much veto any legislation the House puts forward so the Dems are still basically powerless. It also seems that having the control of committees means nothing as even if they manage to find that the GOP has broken laws, it will go nowhere. On the other hand, the GOP still control the Senate so they will still be able to continue to stack the Supreme Court with right wing nut jobs (and sexual predators). I think they also get to confirm appointments like the Attorney General etc, so Trump will still have his henchmen controlling the EPA etc. It's also interesting that your Senate is completely lacking in balance representation based on population. How is it that states with very small populations have the same number of senators as states with massive population?
